ReviewNudger answers
Why are my review request texts not being delivered?
By Wesley Wells, founder · Updated September 28, 2026
The short answer
Check the recorded delivery status and failure reason first. Review-request texts can fail because of contact details, opt-outs, sending readiness, carrier filtering, or the recipient’s phone. An accepted send is not proof of delivery, and verification does not guarantee arrival. Fix the specific cause before retrying.
Start with the recorded attempt
Find the request in the dashboard and inspect its delivery status and error. Queued, accepted, delivered, failed, and skipped describe different stages. An accepted message means the sending provider accepted the attempt; it does not prove the recipient saw it. Save the timestamp and error when asking support for help.
Check whether the destination is correct, whether the customer opted out, and whether the account is paused or has a setup blocker. Do not repeatedly resend a failed message before understanding the cause. A retry is another attempt, and during a trial it consumes the allowance.
- Check the customer contact and permission to text.
- Read the delivery failure reason or the explanation for a skipped request.
- Check SMS setup, the trial allowance, and account status.
- Correct the cause, then make one appropriate test. Do not override an opt-out.
Carrier approval and trial texting are separate
Your own toll-free number can send only after carrier approval. While verification is pending, or for up to 30 days after rejection while you correct it, accounts with an active plan and sending turned on may send from a ReviewNudger number when available and within daily limits. These texts use the standard message and end with "Sent via ReviewNudger". Accounts marked "blocked" cannot use this number. Sending switches to your own number once approved; email requests remain available when your sending rules allow them.
Trial SMS includes up to 50 message attempts across the account, including initial requests, reminders, tests, and failed attempts. Failed attempts are not refunded; restarting a subscription or changing numbers does not reset the allowance.
ReviewNudger prepares carrier verification from your business details. Allow time for review and possible corrections; the dashboard shows the current state. Approval of the business’s own number does not override opt-outs, quiet hours, a paused account, or other sending rules.
What a delivered status cannot tell you
A delivery confirmation is stronger evidence than an accepted send, but it does not mean the customer read the message or left a review. A phone may sort an unfamiliar sender into another list, the customer may not open the message, or they may decide not to respond. Ask about the actual symptom before assuming a carrier block.
Clear business identity, permission-based contact, and neutral copy are useful practices. They do not remove every possible delivery failure. Keep the message focused on one honest review request with an opt-out instruction, and avoid sensitive service details.
Use an eligible email route when it fits
Email can be an initial request or a follow-up when the customer permits it. It has its own address, unsubscribe, and deliverability requirements. ReviewNudger can use eligible email requests when SMS is unavailable or the trial allowance is exhausted; inspect the saved campaign and customer contact before assuming a fallback will send.
Track requests, confirmed deliveries, clicks, and new Google reviews separately. These steps help diagnose where a workflow stops, but no messaging provider or review tool can guarantee a review, a rating, or a place in the customer’s inbox.

Frequently asked questions
Can any service guarantee my texts will reach the inbox?
No. Carrier approval and good sending practices help meet requirements, but carriers, networks, and recipients still affect delivery and visibility. Check the actual delivery outcome rather than treating approval as a guarantee.
Why did texts that used to arrive suddenly stop?
Read the latest failure reason first. Check for changed contact details, an opt-out, account status, sending limits, or a carrier rejection. Some filtering can occur without a definitive explanation, so retain message timestamps for support.
Can trial accounts text before their own number is approved?
Your own toll-free number can send only after carrier approval. While verification is pending, or for up to 30 days after rejection while you correct it, accounts with an active plan and sending turned on may send from a ReviewNudger number when available and within daily limits. Does a delivered text count as a new review?
No. Delivery, a review-link click, and a newly posted Google review are separate events. A click is not proof that the customer completed a review, and a new review during a campaign does not by itself establish causation.
Make review requests part of your routine.
Set up in about 10 minutes. Requests go out after each paid job, follow-ups run on their own, and every review lands in one inbox.
