Why vacation rental managers lose reviews they earned
None of these are a skill problem. They are a timing problem — and timing is exactly what software is good at.
Your best reviews are locked in someone else’s marketplace
Five-star Airbnb reviews do not show up when a family googles your company or your town plus “vacation rentals.” Direct-booking growth depends on the Google profile that OTA reviews never touch.
Checkout is the moment, and it is unattended
The cleaner is on the way and the next check-in is at four. Nobody on your team is free to send a personal note when the stay ends, so the ask never happens.
Not every booking can be asked, and guessing wastes goodwill
Airbnb passes no guest email and Booking.com passes a relay address. A tool that blindly emails relay addresses looks broken; one that knows which stays shared real contact keeps the ask honest.
Works with the tools you already use
No new workflow for your crew. ReviewNudger listens to the apps you already run the business on and sends the request the moment the job is paid.
How it works
- 1Connect Hostaway to ReviewNudger with an API key you create in Hostaway yourself. ReviewNudger checks for departed stays every few minutes and uses each listing’s timezone and checkout time, so a guest is never asked before they have actually left.
- 2Guests whose booking shared a real email or phone — direct, booking-engine, and Vrbo stays — can receive one friendly, neutral Google review request after your chosen delay. Airbnb and Booking.com stays only carry a relay address, so they are asked only when the guest gave a phone number; everything else is recorded and skipped, and your connection panel shows the count.
- 3Google reviews sync into one dashboard with AI reply drafts. Thank a guest for treating the place well, mention the beach or the trailhead, and keep it short.

Frequently asked questions
Will guests be asked to review the stay on Google instead of Airbnb?
Both can happen. Hostaway’s own automation asks for the channel review; ReviewNudger asks for a Google review of your business, which future direct-booking guests actually see. Neither replaces the other.
How do you know when the stay is over?
ReviewNudger reads the reservation’s departure date and the listing’s checkout hour and timezone from Hostaway, and only asks once that moment has passed. Cancelled bookings, owner stays, and inquiries never trigger a request, and stays that ended before you connected are never backfilled.
What about repeat guests and multi-week stays?
Each stay can start one request, and the per-customer cooldown you set keeps a returning guest from being asked again too soon. Long stays are asked once, at checkout, like any other.
Do unhappy guests get filtered out?
No. ReviewNudger’s default sends every guest the same neutral request — no hidden screening. That keeps you inside FTC rules and Google’s review policies, which prohibit selectively suppressing negative reviews.
